On Saturday, we drove down to Southeastern Virginia to see some of the historic sites.
We started in Colonial Williamsburg, which was once the capital of Virginia. Actors make it seem like you're walking through the eighteenth century.

Since we didn't pay the entrance fee ($35/person), we couldn't take tours of any of the buildings. But for free, we were still able to walk around town and enjoy the beautiful landmarks.

We found the ultimate climbing tree.

For lunch, we ate a local tavern. The waiters and dishes seemed to be right out of the 1700s.

And the old-fashioned high chair was pretty cute too.

Olivia enjoyed spending the day outside.

After Williamsburg, we drove down to Yorktown.

Yorktown is the site of the British surrender at the end of the Revolutionary War in 1781. A huge monument is dedicated to General George Washington and his army for gaining America its independence.

Yorktown gives a great view out into the Chesapeake Bay.

Our last stop of the day was at Jamestown, the site of the first permanent British settlement in North America. In 1607, the British arrived at Jamestown island.

One of the most famous people from that time period is Pocahontas, the daughter of Chief Powhatan, who married Englishman John Rolfe. I've always been told by my parents that I am a descendant of Pocahontas, which would make Olivia a descendant too.

Even after all the driving and walking around, Olivia still had a smile on her face at the end of the day! But that could have had something to do with her new sunglasses. :)

I love the glasses! Where did you get those?
The sunglasses are adorable! She is such a happy baby these days! Way to give her a great history lesson--I hope she took notes!
She is looking So cute. So excited to see you all in less than two weeks!
How fun. You guys are just having some great adventures these days!! I also love the sunglasses! Olivia is just getting so big and is such a doll. Also, Andrea I really like your hair in these pictures. I don't really think I have ever seen you do it that way and it is cute!
What an amazing day! The sunglasses really are "over the top." Is Daniel holding Olivia's arm for a reason--possibly to keep her from snagging her shades? Too cute!
No way!! I can't believe you found me via blog. Yeah! Now we can keep in touch. You guys look so great, and I can't believe you have a daughter so big already. She's adorable! It looks like you've been all over the country from coast to coast these past few months. And I'm guessing you're settling in CA, in that you took the BAR exam there? We had a chance to live in Pittsburgh for the summer 4 years ago and Portland 3 years ago. It was fun to travel to all the eastern sites and see the west coast as well. Life is great. Our fourth baby is due in about 6 weeks. Can't wait to get him out of me. :) Keep in touch.
Hi, I'm Jon Farrell's (one of Daniels HS friends) wife. We found our blog and have been stalking for awhile so I figured I should introduce myself.
IT looks like you guys had a lot of fun. I've always loved Williamsburg and think it would be kind of fun to be one of the people who gets to dress up and walk around. Your little girl is adorable. She looks so cute in those glasses.
