My 25th Birthday

On June 30, the day before my 25th birthday, Daniel threw me a surprise birthday party.

The party was in Daniel's parents' yard. I was so surprised when we showed up at the house and everyone yelled "Surprise!" I couldn't think of a reason that Daniel's neighbors would want to surprise him. And then it clicked when I saw the faces of my own family members--people I'm not used to seeing in Centerville. (I'm a little slow...)

It was nice to celebrate with my family, with Daniel's family, and with some of my friends. It was really nice of Daniel's parents to get their yard ready for the party and I'm glad my family was willing to make the trek up to Centerville. And it was nice of my sister Lauriann to make me a beautiful birthday cake.

The only bad part of the night was that Olivia just couldn't seem to behave. She wouldn't stop crying. Even when I held her, she wouldn't calm down. She didn't stop screaming until we were halfway home on the freeway. What a stinker!

But all in all, it was a fun party. And I'm always impressed when Daniel can keep something like that secret from me.

Then on the next day, my mom, aunt, and sisters (and some of their kids) took me out to eat for my birthday. We went to Mimi's Cafe.

Olivia was better behaved. That could have something to do with the fact that my sister Melanie and my niece Lexi put her in a trance by tickling her arms.

My salad was so good! I love summer food!

I'm so grateful to have such a supportive family--the one I was born into and the one I married into. What a great birthday!
