A Real New York Move

On Sunday, May 17, we moved from New York to Utah. Most people move over the course of a few days. Not us. We packed up our stuff in suitcases and took it on the airplane with us. Luckily, we didn't have any furniture to move--as we previously posted, our one-and-only piece of furniture, the LoveSac, had already departed from our home.

All in all, we checked 9 bags on the plane. 6 of them were free because my parents, who traveled with us, flew first class. The remaining 3 bags cost us $65. With our stuff weighing in at about 570 total pounds, I think we did it much cheaper (and faster) than UPS or FedEx could have.

We also took advantage of the carry-on and personal item allowances.
Plus Olivia's gate-check items. (They don't charge any extra to gate check the stroller/car seat.)
Being in Utah has been nice. We got all moved into our new apartment the old-fashioned way. My dad loaded a bunch of furniture (mostly borrowed) onto his trailer and we brought it to Orem in a single trip.
After spending three years in small New York apartments, we have really enjoyed having the space of a two-bedroom apartment. Probably the best part is that Olivia gets her own room. Or I guess a better way to put it is that Daniel and I get our own room again.
With more sleep, more time with grandparents, more time outside, and more furniture just for her, Olivia has been pretty happy.

She does look soo happy. I love the picture of her in the high-chair. I expect that at her year birthday she will be sitting there eating chocolate cake...just like her uncle Chunkles. :)

I am so jealous that you get to be in Utah! I made your heavenly banana bread yesterday and thought of you guys. I hope all is going well, and congrats to Daniel on graduation. We didn't expect anything less of him :)
