I can't believe it has only been two weeks since Madison joined our family. It's hard to imagine our family without her sweet little personality.
At her two-week appointment she weighed 6 lbs 12 oz. and measured 20 inches long. She is consistently sleeping well at night, only waking up twice to feed. And unless she is hungry or tired she is always happy. She is definitely a California baby: easy going.
My parents came to visit for 10 days. Amazingly, my dad had work to do in Southern California from October 13th through the 22nd. My mom hung out with us during the days and my dad joined us at nights. The timing of his trip couldn't have been better.
Olivia loved all the extra attention. In her words, grandpa is so silly and grandma is so sweet!
One of Madison's favorite places to sleep is in her swing. For the first few nights home it was the only place she would sleep for us. Her other favorite place to snuggle up is wrapped up in the soft pink blanket Daniel's mom made for her. (The one she's sound asleep in in the picture above)
Unlike her older sister, Madison won't have anything to do with her binky. Every time we try to give it to her it makes her gag and she immediately spits it out. Luckily, she doesn't really need it.
My mom helped me give Madison her first bath. It's amazing how quickly you forget how to hold something so small and slippery.
I love the smell of a freshly bathed baby.
Daniel's mom came to help out from the 23rd to the 27th. Here is a picture of Madison looking at her grandma adoringly. Daniel's mom had just given Madison a bath and then rubbed her down with lotion. Madison was in heaven and was completely frozen while her grandma was rubbing her back. It was really cute!
Madi and daddy.
She already knows how to wrestle with him.
And she adores her big sister Olivia, although Olivia isn't quite sure what to think yet.
On Monday, October 18th, Daniel started his first official job. It has been rough transitioning to a full-time work schedule after his temporary retirement the past year, but it looks like we are going to survive.

I am so glad that you put up more pictures. You just have such an adorable family!
Congratulations! Madison is so beautiful! And I can't believe how big Olivia has gotten! What a beautiful family.
Just for the record, the Ricks girls are even more adorable in person. Thanks for a fun time!
Marvelous. Simply marvelous.
So fun to see these pictures. Here's too hoping that this month goes even faster than the last--we're ready to see her!
How fun to have so much grandpa, grandma time. She is sure cute and looks so snuggly in her blanket and seat. Daniel, you have an awesome view out your window!
Those are beautiful pictures! Keep good notes because I will be sure to ask you how to make the transition from 1 to 2 when our time comes (that's not an announcement . . . :-)
Madi is beautiful, and Olivia just keeps getting prettier. Congratulations!
Great pictures! She is so sweet and I'm loving the little half smile.
